Topic: Facilitating self-management for people living with type 1 diabetes using MDI and Pumps

Speakers: Michelle Cox and Eileen Collins

Michelle Cox has worked in diverse settings including 10 years at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne; several years working as a diabetes educator in a rural and remote setting as a community health nurse; and as a community nurse in Geelong. Michelle has been working at Diabetes Victoria as a diabetes educator for over 8 years. Her current role includes co-ordinating the OzDAFNE Pump pilot project; working on the OzDAFNE@home project; providing facilitator training; and delivering the OzDAFNE programs.

Eileen Collins is a credentialled diabetes educator (CDE) and registered nurse and midwife who has been working in the area of diabetes for over 30 years. Eileen works at Diabetes Victoria where she is the National Co-coordinator of the OzDAFNE program; an evidence based, structured self-management program for adults living with type 1 diabetes.
Eileen also facilitates a nurse led diabetes clinic in general practice where she regularly assists and supports people with all types of diabetes in all aspects of their self- management.
