Together, they have created an extensive library of patient education resources including fact sheets, videos, apps and websites that can be seamlessly sent to your patients with diabetes via email or SMS

MEET OUR PRESENTERS
Natalie Wischer is the Chief Executive Officer for the National Association of Diabetes Centres (NADC) and Executive Director of the Australian Diabetes Online Service. Natalie has extensive experience in clinical and management roles across acute, aged care and primary health care settings.
She has also been involved in designing and delivering education and training across these various roles. Much of her experience has been in rural and remote communities including having lived and worked in one of the most remote Indigenous communities in Australia for 3 years.
Having focused on diabetes care and services for over 20 years, her passion has grown to include a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities and benefits of available technologies including telehealth, apps and social media in self-management, education and support of people living with diabetes as well as for healthcare professionals.
Professor Glen Maberly is Director of Western Sydney Diabetes (WSD) and a Senior Staff Specialist Endocrinologist at Blacktown and Mt Druitt Hospital at Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD).
The goal of WSD is to prevent and slow health deterioration that can escalate from obesity to pre-diabetes to uncomplicated diabetes to diabetes with devastating co-morbidities. WSD is a consortium led by led by WSLHD, Western Sydney Primary Health Network (WSPHN), Diabetes NSW and ACT, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and NSW Department of Planning. It is supported by an Alliance of over 130 active member organisations committed to helping ‘beat diabetes together’ in western Sydney.
All his career Professor Maberly has focused on fostering public-private-civic partnerships and bring public health evidence based research findings to large scale implementation.
Sian Bramwell is a credentialled diabetes educator with over 30 years’ experience working in the UK and Australia, both in acute care and primary care. Apart from her midwifery work, she has extensive experience in diabetes in the community, including not-for-profit organisations, and hospital settings. These experiences have helped develop her sound understanding of the services available and the difficulties patients encounter accessing the best possible health care.
Over the past 6 years, Sian has worked in Western Sydney, based at Blacktown Hospital working with the Western Sydney diabetes Initiative.
Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing populations in Australia with many born overseas and from ethnic backgrounds that are at high risk of developing diabetes and its complications.
Dr Tina Campbell is a health promotion specialist with extensive experience developing patient education resources, tools and programs. She is the Founder and Managing Director of Healthily, a Melbourne-based health technology company, specialising in patient education and behaviour change.
With a career in the health industry spanning two decades, Tina has led the development of Australia’s largest video library of patient and carer experiences, and designed and developed the GoShare Healthcare content distribution platform, a web application used by health professionals around Australia to deliver tailored education resources to their patients by email or SMS.
Tina completed her PhD at the Centre for Health Policy, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, The University of Melbourne. Her randomised controlled trial evaluated the impact of a ‘patient narrative’ intervention program on self-efficacy and self-care behaviours in people with Type 2 Diabetes.
A/Prof Tony Russell is Director of the Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane. He has just completed 4 years as Co-Chair of the Qld Statewide Diabetes Clinical Network. Tony joined the council of the Australia Diabetes Society in 2016.
Tony’s research interests are around models of care for management of diabetes and he is a Chief Investigator on 2 NHMRC grants. Tony has 90 peer reviewed publications. He is sub-editor for Endocrinology of the Internal Medicine Journal.
Tony works closely with GPs and has developed a model of care for management of complex Type 2 diabetes in the community with up-skilled GPs. Tony also personally provides outreach services to Mt Isa, Cloncurry and Cunnamulla and has established a Telehealth service delivering Endocrine consultations to Western Qld.
