How do you think about diabetes?

Every day a person with diabetes makes an extra 180 diabetes-related decisions. It never stops. Diabetes is relentless and it is serious.

And 80% of people living with diabetes say they experience blame and shame. This just makes managing diabetes even harder.

And when people need help and support, it may not be available.

That’s why this National Diabetes Week we are asking all Australians to rethink diabetes.

Is this how you think about diabetes?

When people with diabetes feel judged or shamed, they may struggle to manage their diabetes.

And when people disengage from their diabetes healthcare, the risk of serious diabetes-related complications increases.

That’s why this National Diabetes week, we are asking people to rethink diabetes.

Up to 80% of people living with diabetes say they have experienced judgement and blame. This causes harm.

It can lead to real conditions like diabetes distress and burn out – very serious, but often silent complications of diabetes.

This can mean people can sometime disengage from their diabetes care and not get the support they need.

That’s why this National Diabetes week, we are asking people to rethink diabetes.
