Optimal medications for DM Mx – person-centred paradigm
Speakers: Dr Ted Wu and Dr Ralph Audehm
Dr Ted Wu is a senior specialist endocrinologist, the Director of the Diabetes Centre and Director of Physician Training at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia. As well as clinical diabetes, he has had a long-term interest in both teaching and research into diabetes complications and novel treatments. He has published numerous articles, abstracts and book chapters and has been an invited speaker to many international symposia.
Within the Diabetes Centre at the RPA Hospital, Dr Wu has formulated and delivered novel educational programs in clinical diabetes since 1998. These have included CD-ROM based, internet, radio, teleconference, social media, international preceptorships and interactive webinar initiatives.
He has also been instrumental in establishing the RPA Diabetes Centre as an International Diabetes Federation “Centre of Education” and National Association of Diabetes Centres “Centre of Excellence”.
Dr Ralph Audehm is a general practitioner with over 25 years of experience.
He graduated from The University of Melbourne in 1984 and obtained a Diploma from the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1987. He gained a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research in 2005. In 2004 he was made an Honorary Research Fellow and in 2015 a Clinical Associate Professor of The University of Melbourne.
He has a long-standing interest in the management of diabetes in general practice and has instigated and supported many initiatives to improve health outcomes systematically for people with diabetes in Melbourne’s north-west. Ralph has been a member of numerous boards, expert panels and working parties. He believes that primary health care is central in the effective management of chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, and that primary care is best coordinated via general practice.
