NADC Diabetes Standards Review Committee (DSRC) – Expression of Interest 

As part of our commitment to ongoing improvement and reflection, we are reviewing the NADC Diabetes Service Standards. This process is crucial to ensure we maintain world-leading practices in diabetes care across Australia.

We are currently seeking members for the NADC Diabetes Standards Review Committee. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of diabetes care standards in our country.

To be eligible, you will have to:

  • have worked at a NADC-accredited service for a minimum of two years and,
  • been involved with an NADC accreditation process and,
  • demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the NADC accreditation program and NADC diabetes service standards or
  • have lived experience of diabetes with an interest in health standards or
  • work in an organisation or in a role that would add value to this review process

NADC encourages applications from a diverse range of diabetes healthcare disciplines and workplaces, individuals with lived experience or health standards expertise to ensure the composition of the Review Committee reflects the diversity of our membership, including geographical, age, gender, cultural and professional diversity.

All committee members will receive an induction and support during their appointment to the committee.

About the Diabetes Standards Review Committee (DSRC)

The NADC Standards Review Committee is comprised of a minimum of eight members. Committee members serve in an honorary capacity.

The Chair of the Review Committee is the NADC accreditation committee chair, Dr Elaine Pretorius

Responsibilities:
The role of the Diabetes Standards Review Committee is to:

  • undertake a review of NADC Diabetes primary – tertiary and Centre of Excellence Standards
  • review any additional information for other accreditation/standards agencies, international standards and other relevant documents
  • provide feedback via a survey on the NADC standards, primarily what needs to be adapted, abandoned and streamlined
  • meet with the DSRC committee

As a member of the NADC Diabetes Standards Review Committee, you will play an integral role in ensuring that diabetes services across Australia have a transparent, contemporary, streamlined, and logical process for assessing themselves against diabetes care standards and benchmarking against like-sized services as they achieve excellence in the provision of diabetes care. You will also be participating in a world-leading and unique accreditation system in the diabetes healthcare ecosystem.

Our NADC volunteers are rewarded with CPD certificates for each year serving on the committee and complimentary registration to either ADATS or BPDC meetings annually.

Time commitment
The review and feedback survey may take approximately 8 hours, with a further 2 hours of meeting time. A follow-up review of edits is expected to take an additional 2 hours. DSRC members will be given a 4-week period to complete the initial review and feedback survey.

The term of this committee is limited to one calendar year until the completion of the current cycle of standards is reviewed. At the conclusion of the review, committee members may be asked to join the accreditation review committee as an assessor or rejoin the DRSC during the next review cycle of 2-4 years.
